Jaisalmer War Museum

Jaisalmer War Museum:

Jaisalmer War Museum is one of the must visit place in Jaisalmer..The war museum is 10 km from city on Jaisalmer-Jodhpur highway.It is open on all the seven days.The timings are 9am to 6pm. Jaisalmer War Museum entry fee is free of cost for all the visitors. Jaisalmer War Museum is devoted to the soldiers who sacrifice their life for the nation in 1965 during India Pakistan war. This museum is full of trophies and lot of vintage equipments like tanks,guns,military vehicles and weapons.It has two large information display halls.

1.Audio Visual Room which is called Indian army hall.In this hall a big screen is there where videos regarding the battle fought is screened.

2.Longewala hall.

There is one music and light show in the evening which tells about the tales of soldiers and their bravery.There is an Indian flag at the center of the museum.Tourists visit this place with enthusiasm and salute their Indian flag.

In this museum lot of Pakistani tanks displayed which are captured during 1965 war.There are so many slogans written over there.

Local Shopping in Jaisalmer:

Shopping is one of the best thing to do in Jaisalmer. The city have local markets which sell authentic Rajasthani stuff in Jaisalmer.You can get everything with a lot of bargaining with the sellers.

1.Sadar Bazaar:

Sadar bazaar is one of the popular markets in Jaisalmer.
You can buy all kind of Rajasthani stuff over there. You can buy handicrafts, rugs, blankets,shawls, jewellery, puppets, carpets and antique statues.Khadi fabric,tie-dye fabric is also available in this market by Khadi Gramudyog Bhavan.

2.Manak Chowk:

Manak chowk is famous for leather goods,textiles,handicraft,jewellery and antique items.The shops over there are small in size but they have a lot of variety.

3.Pansari Bazaar:

Pansari bazaar is the oldest market of Jaisalmer.You can buy puppets,bells,wall hangings and so many colourful ethnic things of Rajasthan.

4.Bhatia Bazaar:

If u want to take back home souvieners then this is the best place for you.silk embroided cushions,bed sheets,mirror work items,table cloths and many  more things are available in this market.

5.Sonaron ka Bass:

This is the famous market among tourists.There are so many shops dealing with gold,silver and stone jewellery.The designs of the jewellery are unique.

As i am a foody person,i love to try different cuisine.And when it comes to Rajasthan,the food is really awesome.So i am sharing here 5 famous food of Rajasthan that i tried over there.

Dal Bati Churma:

As the king of Rajasthani food,Dal Bati Churma is really finger licking food.Dal is the mixed dal and bati is made of atta balls which is cooked over fire.Then they dip this cooked ball in Ghee.There is a traditional way of eating dal bati.Rajasthani people just press bati with hands then put dal over it by adding side dishes like Lahsun Chutney,onions in it.It tastes really good.And the Churma is basically sweet dish accompany Dal Bati.It is made by grinding bati and mix it with ghee and sugar.

Kadi Kachodi:

The next dish is Kadi Kachodi.Pyaz Kachodi basically made from maida stuffed with onions masala and deep fried.It tastes so much good with Kadi.Kadi is mix of curd and besan cooked .Rajasthani food is very spicy food.

Gatta Curry:

When it comes to main course,Gatta Curry is the must try dish.It is made from besan with a thick curd gravy.it can be eaten with Pranttha,roti etc.

Ker Sangri Ki Sabzi:

This is a different vegetable which grows only in Rajasthan.It is very expensive Vegetable.Rajasthani people cook KerSangri ki sabzi at special occassions.

Raita:

The Raita over there is different one.They basically put tadka of spices in curd then the Raita is ready to eat..

Places to visit in pushkar

Places to visit in Pushkar:
After spending memorable time in Jaisalmer, we are ready to come back to our home Delhi .After travelling to India dessert,we decided to visit Pushkar.Pushkar is a town in the Ajmer district.It is located at about 10 km from Ajmer.It is famous for Lord Brahma temple.There are so many places to see in Pushkar.Some of them are as below:

1.Pushkar Lake:

The prime attraction of Pushkar is the Pushkar Lake which is a sacred Lake. Pushkar is pilgrimage of Hindus because of this holy lake.Lord Brahma, the creator of the universe, when a lotus dropped from his hand at this place a lake emerged in that place.Whenever some family went to visit Pushkar Brahma temple firstly they have to visit Pushkar Lake.Pandits over there do some pooja and then people will go to Brahma Temple.There are 400 temples and 52 places around the lake.It gives a very beautiful view during sunset and sunrise.

2.Brahma Temple:

Brahma is the creator of the universe.There are only three temples of Brahma in the world and only one in India that is in Pushkar.People have great belief in this temple.There are so many temples in Pushkar but the Brahma temple is extremely beautiful.It is made up of marble.In the brahma temple even a mirror at the back of the brahma idol to see the fourth face of Brahma Ji.


3.RangJi Temple:

Rangji Temple is basically the temple of God Vishnu.There is lot of crowd in this temple because of its location.It is inside the market of Pushkar.Many foreigner visitors come to this temple and take blessings of Lord Vishnu.


4.Savitri Temple:

Savitri is the first wife of Lord Brahma.Savitri temple is one of the must visit places in Pushkar.It is located over Ratnagiri Hills.Little trekking is there to reach Savitri temple.It is very beautiful place in Pushkar.

Pushkar Mela:

There is a big pushkar mela celebrated for five days in Pushkar every year.Basically lord Brahma temple is over there.That is only one in India.There are above 200 temples in Pushkar.There are so many ghats at Pushkar lake where pilgrims take bath and take blessings.

Markets in Pushkar:

There is a big market around the brahma temple where we can buy rajasthani stuff like dupattas,purses,wooden things etc.Amla is very much famous over there.There are so many shops that are selling Amla candy,Amla Murraba etc.Also Rose water,GULUKAND is famous to buy.Rajasthani food is must try food.Kadi Kachori,Mirchi pakora,Jalebi,Samosa,Pyaz Kachori are the strret food over there.That taste really very good.

Best time for Delhi to jaisalmer trip

Best time to travel to Jaisalmer:

When we final our destination for holiday then the first question came to our mind is that when is the best time to visit this place?Same with me as i final down jaisalmer for holiday,i was thinking is it the right time to go to jaisalmer or should i plan my delhi to jaisalmer trip in another season.So i just visited Jaisalmer in January which is the best time to visit the place..Actually the best time to visit Jaisalmer is November to March.This is the winter season.All the activities like camel riding,dessert safari,sightseeing is more enjoyable in this season.The maximum temperature in this season is upto 24 degree Celsius.The weather in this season is breeze.This is the best time to enjoy the sand dunes in Thar dessert.
In the summer season temperature reaches upto 50 degree celcius.So its not easy to do outdoor activities..Therefore,the best time to travel to jaisalmer is winter season..

Jaisalmer dessert festival:

This festival is one of the popular festivals of Jaisalmer.It is basically comes in the month of February.It is organised by Rajasthan Tourism.Fun Competitions like turban tying,best moustache held during this time.Camel race is also a big tourist attraction in this weather.



Places to visit in jaisalmer

Hello friends.
In my last post delhi to jaisalmer trip by road,i had shared Rajasthan travel  experience but today i will share about the must visit places in jaisalmer.

1. Jaisalmer Fort:

Jaisalmer fort is situated in the heart of Jaisalmer.It is one of the very few living fort.Its walls are yellow in colour.There is a palace in the fort which is known as haveli.A big cannon is situated at the top of the fort which is major tourist attraction.We can easily get inside the fort with the autorikshaws available over there.There are many roof top cafes in the fort.A pleasant evening view of jaisalmer city can be easily seen from the top of fort.There are Jain temples inside the fort.The visiting hours of the fort are 9 a.m to 5 p.m.

2.Gadisar Lake:

If you want to experience the beauty and serenity of the Jaisalmer then you must try boat riding in Gadisar lake.The view along the lake is a pleasure to our eyes.The lake gives a beautiful view of sunset.For boat riding you have to buy the tickets otherwise there will be free entry to the lake.It is surrounded by small stairs and temples..There is also a small market at the entry of this lake.You can see katputli shows over there.Photography in Rajasthani outfits is a must try over there.


3. Patwon ki haveli:

Haveli is situated at walking distance from the Jaisalmer fort and the market.It is very beautiful from outside.The stone carving done on the walls is really beautiful.The families still reside in one corner of it.The architecture is so well planned.It is the true Rajasthani heritage.The entry ticket for this is 100 rupees.

4. Sam Sand Dunes :

Sam Sand Dunes is the major torist attraction in jaisalmer.It is around 35 km from the Jaisalmer.Just 40 minutes drive you will start experience the dunes.There are lot of exciting activities to do there at the dunes.Jeep Safari,camel ride,paragliding,scooter driving and many more things to spend whole day at dunes.
